A Wall Exposed
According to Graham Harman, objects are constituted by their hidden, or so-called withdrawn qualities. A wall appears to us as a solid and dense matter that divides spaces. The project A Wall Exposed investigates the wall under the surface, it hosting an inevitable component of contemporary life: electricity. Sonification of the cables’ and devices’ electromagnetic fields led to the Play the Wall! app on the left, which turns the wall and its devices into an instrument. On the right, a composition titled The Rise can be listened to. The two approaches are framed by a white interface, which made the piece of work part of the wall that it thematised.
