Along the margin Terrotories of natur?
Masterarbeit von Till Fehn, 2025
Has our perception ever been neutral? It has always been filtered through language, images, and cultural codes. Today, digital media and aesthetic simulations amplify the process of abstraction. What we encounter is no longer nature itself, but curated representations of what we believe nature to be. Following the theory of Baudrillard, the image first reflects a basic reality. Then it distorts it, before it pretends to represent something real, though no original exists, in the third stage. Finally, it becomes pure simulacrum, an image with no reference at all. Nature, in this context, becomes hyperreal. It becomes more vivid, more controlled, more natural than nature itself. The installation invites to reflect on how our relationship to the natural world is constructed, repeated, andultimately replaced by layers of simulation – until reality and its image are no longer distinguishable.
