sneak preview – embodied peripheries
info
the starting point of our semester project is a public square in berlin. it serves as a basis for dealing with at first invisible conditions of the place, the city and the people: we will be looking at ephemeral, atmospheric, historical, political or utopian aspects, based on ephemeral observations and peripheral perceptions. after first explorations, notations and mappings of what has been found, further investigations could follow, such as a research in archives, the inclusion of objects, materials, texts or references to film and photography.
in order to make the invisible visible and tangible for other observers, we will design an exhibition that is worn on our own bodies or that is directly linked to them. this performative exhibition is intended to become an experimental dialogical space in urban space: a spatial, temporary and nomadic structure in which words, language, things, images, typography, etc. are related to each other. this performative exhibition addresses the role of public space, the positioning of the own body in the city, and uses it as a space of encounter, space for communication and stage through an interplay with urban space, the space of the body expands into an experimental exhibition space in which corporality, movement and action create a dialogical relationship with the audience.
