CRAFTING (PAST) FUTURE WORLDS
info
In this seminar, students delved into the world of 3D modeling, 3D printing, and visualization in Unity, using Rhino software as a primary tool. Inspired by the thought-provoking themes of E.M. Forster‘s The Machine Stops (1908) and H.G. Wells‘ The Time Machine (1895), the seminar guided students in developing immersive digital spaces that explore the intersection of technology and the future of humanity.
Students developed projects where they created environments that reflect the dystopian worlds depicted in these classic science fiction works. They learned to translate these themes into 3D models, utilizing Rhino software. They also explored how to bring these designs to life using 3d printing and real time rendering in Unity.
